Meet Colac’s Dr Rae

The Colac & District Family History Group extends an invitation to our members to experience the innovative way that they have chosen to portray the history of an important early resident and include events in the history of the Colac district.

Dr Thomas Rae was the main doctor, surgeon, coroner and JP in this district between 1859 and 1879. As a prominent member of the community, he was not only expected to perform his duty as a doctor, but also as a leader in many other areas as well, such as lobbying for a hospital and extension of the railway line and serving on numerous committees.

On Sunday July 7th 1:30 to 2:00 and Wednesday 10th July 11:30 to 12:00. “Dr Rae” will come to life and tell his own story at the History Centre, COPACC opposite the Colac Railway Station.

Check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=crossxpollination

The History Centre will open one hour prior to “Dr Rae” and tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for your members. This is also a chance to mingle with members from other history groups in the southwest.

RSVP to merrillo@bigpond.net.au or text or phone & leave a message on 0400 055709.
